Barcelona, Spain - SK Telecom (NYSE: SKM) has formed a joint venture with Deutsche Telekom, e& Group, Singtel, and Softbank Corp. to focus on artificial intelligence applications for the telecommunications sector.

The venture, part of the Global Telco AI Alliance, will focus on developing Large Language Models (LLMs) designed specifically for the needs of telcos.

The venture aims to improve customer service interactions with multilingual LLMs planned for Korean, English, German, Arabic, and Japanese, with options for future language expansion.

LLMs tailored to the telecommunications industry will fine-tune responses to customer inquiries and increase the efficiency of customer service operations.

The joint venture expects to deploy the LLMs later this year, with a significant potential impact on the partners' combined subscriber base, estimated to reach 1.3 billion customers worldwide.
