LG OLED TVs Boost Sleep Health: Study Reveals Benefits

Seoul, South Korea - LG Display (034220. KS) announced that its OLED TV panels have been shown to help maintain healthy sleep patterns, based on a recent clinical study.

The two-week study, conducted with researchers from Seoul's Kookmin University, measured melatonin levels in 40 adults watching content on either LCD or OLED TVs.

Results showed an 8.1% increase in melatonin secretion for the OLED TV group over two hours, compared to a 2.7% decrease for the LCD TV group.

LG Display's OLED TV panels emit 36% blue light, significantly less than the 70-80% emitted by LCD panels. Blue light is known to disturb melatonin secretion, potentially leading to sleep disorders.

The study also found that OLED TVs effectively maintained viewers' healthy sleep patterns by activating parasympathetic nerves.

LG Display's OLED panels have previously received certifications for eye and body health, including "Circadian Friendly" certification from TÜV Rheinland and "Eyesafe," "Flicker Free," and "Discomfort Glare Free" verifications from UL.
