Seoul, South Korea - SK hynix Inc. announced on Monday the integration of key features from its Heterogeneous Memory Software Development Kit (HMSDK) with Linux, the world's largest open-source operating system.

HMSDK, designed to optimize Compute Express Link (CXL) operations, enhances memory package bandwidth by over 30% without modifying existing applications.

The software also improves performance by more than 12% through data relocation based on access frequency.

The integration with Linux allows developers worldwide to use SK hynix's technology as the industry standard for CXL memory, positioning the company for global collaboration on next-generation memory solutions.

SK hynix is validating CXL 2.0 memory in 96 GB and 128 GB capacities with customers, with mass production planned to begin by year-end.

This aligns with the anticipated full commercialization of CXL in the second half of 2024.

Youngpyo Joo, Head of Software Solutions at SK hynix, stated,

"We will strive to improve our status as a total AI memory solutions provider by innovating technologies and expanding the ecosystem in this field."

The company aims to foster the ecosystem by enhancing software competitiveness alongside AI memory products such as High Bandwidth Memory (HBM).
