Seoul, South Korea- SK Telecom (NYSE: SKM) is expanding its artificial intelligence-based veterinary diagnosis assistance service, X Caliber, to North America.

The South Korean telecom giant has partnered with Nuon Imaging & Nikki Health Solutions to introduce X Caliber to over 100 veterinary hospitals across Canada.

The service will integrate with Nuon Nikki's Skyline PACS veterinary imaging software.

SK Telecom signed a memorandum of understanding with U.S. X-ray equipment distributor Myvet Imaging following a successful proof-of-concept trial in New Jersey.

The companies aim to finalize a commercial contract in the third quarter of 2024.

X Caliber uses AI to analyze pet X-ray images in about 15 seconds, with 86-94% sensitivity.

The cloud-based service allows veterinarians to access diagnosis results remotely on mobile devices or PCs.

According to industry data, the North American launch targets the world's largest pet market, with 77% of Canadian households and 66% of U.S. households owning pets.

SK Telecom plans to enhance X Caliber's capabilities by introducing AI-powered automatic measurement solutions for pet heart sizes and joint issues later this year.
