BERLIN, Germany - Samsung Electronics (005930. KS) plans to launch AI-powered voice recognition technology for its home appliances, the company announced at the IFA 2024 consumer electronics show in Berlin.

The South Korean tech giant said its new Voice ID feature, expected to be available in 2025, will allow home appliances to recognize individual family members' voices and provide personalized experiences.

Samsung also showcased improved accessibility features for its Bespoke AI appliance line, including enhanced screen visibility options and voice assistance capabilities.

The company plans to introduce Accessibility Sync, which will allow users to apply smartphone accessibility settings to home appliances during initial setup.

This feature is expected to be available in the second half of this year.

Samsung's Bespoke 4-Door Refrigerator with AI Family Hub and Bespoke AI Laundry Combo will feature screens with improved visibility options, including black-and-white display, color inversion, and font enlargement.

The company said Voice Guide, a feature providing audible descriptions of appliance status and operations, will be progressively rolled out to products with displays.

Samsung also highlighted its Auto Open Door feature, which is currently available on select refrigerators, washing machines, and ovens and is designed to improve ease of use.

The company said these innovations align with its "AI for All" vision, aiming to make home technology more inclusive and accessible.
